About

I grew up in the hills of Kentucky, went to boarding school in the mountains of Tennessee, attended undergrad in the foothills of South Carolina, and went to seminary near the banks of the James River in Virginia. My academic tour of the Southeast resulted in a B.A. in sociology and a Masters of Divinity. I am an ordained PC(USA) minister, and while I have served in churches before, I am currently working at a local nonprofit in South Carolina serving those living with HIV by helping to prevent homelessness, providing access to care, and offering other supportive services.

I was lucky enough to meet my wife while we were both in college, and we have been together ever since. She is also an ordained PC(USA) minister, although she went to a fancier seminary than I did. She too has served in churches, but she too now works at a local nonprofit serving victims of domestic violence. She was actually my inspiration for transitioning into nonprofit work, since she made the switch first. We were lucky enough to have twins, a boy and a girl, and we are pretty pumped about it. They are a joy to have around (most of the time), and I couldn’t imagine life without them.

I am an unapologetic, die hard citizen of the Big Blue Nation. I enjoy a single malt Islay Scotch, Kentucky bourbon, American craft beer, and red wine. I love 90’s rock/alternative music. If I could, I would play golf all the time. I organize a yearly gathering of my seminary friends known as Treystock. I would love to one day grow, produce, bottle, and distribute my own brand of hot sauce, but I have no idea how to do that. Oh, and I don’t see so well.
